Ethiopia Limu

The story

This lot comes from Limu, in Ethiopia's southwestern highlands, where coffee is still grown the old way: in small family gardens, under the shade of native trees. Most farms here are under two hectares.

The trees are heirloom landraces, grown at 1,500 to 2,200 metres across Kaffa and Illubabor. At harvest, from September to January, the cherries go to local washing stations, many of them community-owned, where they're fully washed and then sun-dried.

Green apple comes first, then black tea, with a soft milk chocolate finish. We roast it for filter.
